ABOUT GENERAL SEWING CLASSES
These classes are suitable for beginners to advanced learners. You are welcome to make whatever you like in these classes.
In these small classes you will receive plenty of individual attention whilst sharing your interests with like minded people.
Here you have the opportunity to undertake a project of your own choice with expert guidance. You will be shown how to read a pattern*, lay out the pattern pieces correctly on the fabric* and follow the written instructions. As you advance you can choose more difficult patterns and more challenging techniques.
If you are a beginner, consider making an apron or cushion cover in your first class. This introduces you to some of the techniques and skills you will need to continue. If you feel a bit more ambitious, choose a simple pattern* of a T shirt or pull on pants.
Maybe you have had some experience sewing and would like to improve your techniques or knowledge, such as when you would use an Overlocker instead of a machine or stretch sewing* techniques. You could also learn to use the extra presser feet and functions of your machine or simply practice and perfect those fiddly techniques like jeans hems, blind hems or invisible zip insertions.
Or maybe you would just like to express yourself creatively? Maybe you want to copy and make something that you have seen, remodel a favourite garment or alter something you picked up in an op shop.
In these classes you would use your own Sewing machine* and Overlocker* if needed. This way you become more familiar with your own machine and can continue to sew in between classes.
However, if you are unfamiliar with your machine you may like to consider Individual Tuition (by appointment), or attending one or both of my 3 hour 'Know your Machine' or `Know your Overlocker' Workshops (Please check for dates). Special offers apply!
Please ensure your machine is in good working order.
